Who is it for?
Whether you are a manager in the private, public or voluntary sector, it is likely that you are facing a range of challenges on a daily basis. The MA in Developing Professional Practice in Management is a part-time work based Masters degree tailored to the needs of those in busy management roles.
This course is for those in a management role and it is designed to increase your understanding of management processes and practices in the workplace; to enhance your own skills and contribution as a manager and bring about positive development in your own organisation.
Contents
The MA has two parts :
* In Part 1 you learn about leadership and management theories and increase your ability to apply this knowledge to real work issues
* In Part 2 you apply this learning to your own workplace. you do this by designing and implementing a work based project, focused on developing you professional practice, and negotiated with your employer, to ensure its usefulness
It is delivered:
* Over 2 years
* Using online materials plus 19 day-long sessions (9.30am – 4.30pm) at Lancaster University (or your workplace for cohorts from the same organisation)
* By tutors with extensive vocational experience as well as appropriate subject knowledge
* Between sessions, you learn by private study

You need to complete an application form and 500 word statement. We welcome applications from individuals who have:
- an Honours degree or equivalent professional qualification and at least 3 years relevant work experience
or
- successful experience of honours level (final year undergraduate) study in the last 3 years
If you do not meet either of these entry requirements, you may still be able to apply on the basis of line manager recommendation, interview and a 1,000 word critique of a set journal article on organisational change.
We also offer accreditation of prior certificated learning (APCL) so if you hold a relevant postgraduate certificate then contact us for further details.
