The programme aims to produce graduates who have acquired:

* An awareness of the role and significance of both being an information technology specialist and a business generalist
* The learning and leadership skills needed for further professional development
* An understanding of the professional, managerial and technical dimensions of information management and business technology
* The core skills required to obtain a first professional post in the sector and
* The learning skills needed to attain further professional development

This programme educates students in a wide variety of disciplines within business and information science and is designed by industry for industry. It serves to build on prior experience in these areas and educates them on cutting edge technologies, information systems, business practices, and management styles currently being implemented within the corporate environment. The skills gained in this postgraduate programme will provide graduates with a competitive advantage in a fast-paced and evolving career field.

Assessment
MSc: coursework and dissertation, Diploma and Certificate: coursework. The Dissertation involves supervised, but self-directed, study and will ideally be work-based.

Requirements

Minimum lower second class honours degree or equivalent, preferably in a business or information technology-related subject, and approximately 1 year’s relevant work experience. Applicants must meet the Department of Information Science’s minimum English Language requirements.

All applicants must have an acceptable qualification in English language before they can be admitted to any postgraduate programme. Below are the main English language qualifications acceptable for entry to the University (these are the minimum and some departments may require higher levels):

* GCSE English Language – Grade C or above
* IELTS band 6.5 or above with 6.5 in listening, 7.0 in writing, 6.0 in reading and 6.0 in speaking
* TOEFL (including the Tests in Written and Spoken Practice) minimum score of 600 (paper-based test) or 100 (Internet-based test) with 21 in Listening, 22 in Reading, 23 in Speaking and 21 in Writing.
