Location of Loughborough University

This programme offers an overview of contemporary methods and techniques in human geography, and is specifically designed to meet the needs of those considering undertaking research at graduate level. Combining hands-on experience of planning and executing research projects in the social sciences with a critical overview of debates in methodology, the programme offers the ideal grounding for students wishing to pursue a PhD in human geography. More broadly, the programme is designed to equip students from a wide range of backgrounds with general and subject-specific research skills that would allow them to be employed in a research position in the private, public or voluntary sectors. In the dissertation, students may undertake research that relates to any interests they may have in human geography. Research interests of Loughborough’s human geographers span cultural, economic, development, historical, political, feminist, social and urban geography. The collective focus of interests relate to contemporary globalization and the geographies of social and political difference, from both West and non- West perspectives.
