This M.Sc. in Disability Studies builds capacity through a high quality and accessible graduate curriculum that combines the scholarly and the experiential. This programme is oriented towards professionals from the disability service provision sector in the middle and senior management positions, students from the sciences, social sciences, and humanities, legislators, government and state agencies employees, advocacy organizations, and community agencies´ members. Through the different modules, the programme provides students with deep understanding of disability in broad international, cultural, and historical contexts and with the skills to take on leadership positions in the disability field nationally and internationally.
Two options are available for students: a two-year part-time program, advisable for students enrolled in the program while working, and a one-year full-time program more suitable for international and other students. A Postgraduate Diploma qualification (exit only) is also available for students who complete all the modules except the dissertation. Graduates of this programme will engage through the course work in current issues affecting people with disabilities at the policy and organisational levels. Distance, present, and experiential learning methods are applied to build students´ capacity to lead to a more plural and diverse society, established on the grounds of equal opportunity.
