The University Master in Informatics Engineering, linked to the profession of Informatics Engineer, combines advanced education in issues on Technology Management and issues in Technical aspects on Informatics Engineering. The program intends to accomplish its goal of producing professionals being able to adequately perform the profession of Informatics Engineer.
The program is fully adapted to the recommendations for the verification of Official Graduate Programs for the profession of Informatics Engineer, from the Spanish University Screateriat (published on Spanish Official Bulletin on August, 4th 2009).
The general goal of the Master in Informatics Engineering is to educate professionals being able to adequately perform the profession of Informatics Engineer. The Master is oriented towards an advanced academic education linked to the job market in the computing industry. With this goal in mind, the Masters program is oriented to the direct application of the acquired knowledge to real problems.
It is intended that students acquire the following competences:
* Ability to Project, calculate and design products, processes and facilities in every scope related to Informatics Engineering.
* Ability to manage informatics systems facilities and associated works, according with the defined regulations and ensuring quality of service.
* Ability manage, plan and supervise multidisciplinary teams.
* Ability for mathematical modeling, calculation and simulation in technological and engineering centers, especially in research, development and innovation task in every scope related to Informatics Engineering.
* Ability for the elaboration, strategic planning, management, coordination and technical and economical management of projects in every scope of Informatics Engineering accomplishing quality and environmental criteria.
* Ability for the general management, technical management and research, development and innovation project management in firms and technology centers, in the scope of Informatics Engineering.
* Ability to start and manage manufacturing processes of Informatics equipments guaranteeing safety for persons and goods, final quality of products and its endorsement.
* Ability to apply acquired knowledge and solve problems in new and unknown environments in wider contexts and multidisciplinary, being able to integrate that knowledge.
* Ability to understand and apply ethical responsibility, legislation professional ethics activities of the profession of Informatics Engineer.
* Ability to apply the principles of economy and human resources and project management as far as legislation, regulation and standardization of Informatics Engineering.
Contents
The Master has 90 ECTS and is offered in two modes: Spanish and bilingual (Spanish-English). The bilingual offering has more than 50% of courses offered in English. The courses are distributed in three semesters and organized in the following modules:
* Technology Management: Provides advanced education in legal issues, technology based firms´ management, strategic planning and project management, paying special attention to R&D and innovation management.
* Informatics Technologies: Allows advancing in several technological aspects of Informatics Engineering to provide students a global view and detailed knowledge of such aspects.
* Master Thesis: Students will perform an integral professional project in the context Informatics Engineering.
First year

* Computer systems audit and certification, Auditoria y certificación de sistemas informáticos
* Computer networks design and management, Diseño y gestión de redes informáticas
* Technology-based firms management, Gestión de empresas de base tecnológica
* Computer engineering legal and ethical issues, Aspectos legales y éticos de la ingeniería informática
* These courses are offered only in Spanish

Requirements
The admission requirements for admission in the Master of Informatics Engineering at University Carlos III of Madrid include holding a Bachelor´s Degree in one of the following:
* Software Engineering.
* Computer Engineering.
* Computer Science.
* Information Systems.
* Information Technology.
Two options are availabe:
* Spanish: Every course is offered in Spanish.
* Bilingual Spanish/English: More than 50% of courses offered in English.
Students applying to follow course in English must be fluent in English as a pre-requisite. If they are not English speakers as mother language, they will have to accredit their Englih level (both written and spoken) by means of exams as TOEFL, British Council IELTS o r tests performed by the Languages Courses of University Carlos III of Madrid. Another option is to hold certificates as Cambridge Proficiency Certificate or Cambridge First Certificate. Additionally, English level may be checked in an interview.
Admission Criteria
Students will be selected after analyzing their academic history. Specifically, the following criteria are used.
* Academic history.
* Professional experience in the context of Informatics Engineering.
* Existing recommendation or support letters from academy or industry.
Admission Requests must include:
* Application form
* Photocopy of degree or accreditation of having paid the fees.
* Photocopy of academic transcripts.
* Curriculum vitae.
* Photocopy of National ID. card or passport.
* Two wallet-sized photographs.
* Two letters of recommendation (optional for professional or academic Master programs)
* Only those students with a non-European Higher Education Area degree must submit a document from their university stating that the studies carried out permit access to a postgraduate programme
