Aims of the MA Programme in Peacebuilding
Die MA Programme in Peacebuilding aims at connecting academic peace studies with the specific professional and personal challenges which peacebuilders face in a conflict environment. Students are enabled to perceive conflicts and their underlying causes as well as analyse and assess approaches, actors, fields of work, activities, criteria and principles of successful civilian conflict management in each phase of the conflict cycle - crisis prevention, crisis intervention, post-conflict peacebuilding.
The advanced MA Programme in Peacebuilding is primarily application-oriented. It conveys practical skills in civilian conflict management and qualifies students to apply them in conflict regions. This requires the provision of analytical and practical qualifications as well as a specific peacebuilding approach which builds upon the different dimensions of the structural conditions and conflict causes and includes concrete questions concerning, planning, implementation and evaluation of peace missions.
