Location of Dublin Institute of Technology

This programme is offered on a full time basis (one year) commencing September. It is designed for honours (2.2 or better) graduates in accounting. It is aimed at those wishing to further their studies in accounting and who may wish to prepare for a career as a professional accountant.

Those commencing the programme with exemption from CAP 1 CAI will, on successfully completing the programme and meeting other requirements, be eligible for exemption from Cap 2 CAI.

It will also equip its graduates to successfully complete the examinations of the other major accounting bodies (ACCA, CIMA CPA (I)) operating in Ireland.

The programme will also develop the skills and competencies required to undertake independent research in the areas of accounting and related areas.

Career Opportunities Most graduates will initially embark on qualifying as a professional accountant. Following this opportunities exist in both professional offices and elsewhere.

Requirements

An honours degree (2.2 or higher) with accounting constituting a major part. Those who have made timely progress in their professional examinations may also be considered.

Non-EU applicants should note:

Only in exceptional circumstances will the School of Accounting and Finance accept students onto the MSc in Accounting (DT329) who have attained their undergraduate qualifications outside Ireland.

Prospective international graduate students interested in professional accounting exemptions may apply for DT310 Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting which offers extensive exemptions to graduates.

Note: Due to the considerable competition for our postgraduate programmes satisfying the minimum entry requirement is not a guarantee of a place. Depending on the programme of study applications will be assessed based on your academic grades and may also take into account your work/life experience. Applicants may also be required to attend for interview for specific programmes.
