This programme is a one-year full-time course leading to a Master of Science Degree. It is specifically aimed at candidates holding a professional qualification or equivalent in engineering or related disciplines. The course is aimed at providing graduates with a high level of applied computing skills as applied to engineering.
Award
Graduates are eligible for the award of Master of Science in Engineering Computation of the Dublin Institute of Technology.
Career Opportunities
This course will provide engineers and technologists with the opportunity to specialise in the application of computing technology to engineering. It will equip the successful graduate for a career as a computing specialist primarily in engineering, technology and in the computing industry.
12 one-semester taught modules, each worth 5 ECTS credits, must be completed from the following set:
Engineering Systems Simulation Programming in Java Finite Element Analysis 1 Algorithms and Data Structures Finite Element Analysis 2 Artifical Intelligence Introduction to Numerical Methods Operating Systems Numerical Methods for ODEs and PDEs Networks Computer Graphics & Modelling Image Processing Computer Aided Engineering & Design Image and Video Compression
Students successfully completing the 12 taught modules will be eligible for a Postgraduate Diploma award. For the MSc award, students must additionally complete a research dissertation, worth 30 ECTS credits.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
Take testA minimum Second Class Honours degree (2.2 grade or higher) in engineering or a related discipline.

Depending on the programme of study applications will be assessed based on your academic grades and may also take into account your work/life experience. Applicants may also be required to attend for interview for specific programmes.
