The crop yield depends, to a large extent, on the incidence of pests, diseases and weeds. Worldwide studies show that losses due to those causes mean between the 25 and 50% of the potential output. The reduction of such losses, if used sustainable and respectful strategies for human health and environment, is the aim of the Integrated Crop Protection. Agriculture needs specializing technicians in this area, as evidenced by the strong demand for senior specialists from different sectors such as cooperatives, producer associations, production and marketing business, control methods and public administrations involved in research, teaching and development. The aim of the master's degree is to train both professionals capable of taking decisions to control pests, diseases and weeds with economical, toxicological and environmental criteria, and researchers able to develop new control methods that respect human health and environment.
