This two-years lasting study program Geology prepare highly educated specialists in geological branches, such as environmental geology, geophysics, geochemistry, historical geology, hydrogeology, mineralogy, magmatic and metamorphic petrology, paleontology, quarternary geology and karsology, regional geology, sedimentary geology, soil mechanics and tectonics. During the study they specialize in three chosen branches where they deepen their theoretical and practical knowledge.
Upon graduation, the students are able to:
* explain and use principal geological terminology in logical context and deduce new information,
* recognize principal minerals, rocks, fossils and structures, interpret these product of nature from geological point of view, select method for instrumental analysis,
* use geological research methods including documentation of geological outcroppes and exposures, sampling, data processing etc., choose the best method for problem solving,
* solve personally complex geological problem, interpret results of the research in relation to other information, present these information in written and oral form.

Masaryk University is a public university-type institution of higher education offering:

Fields of study may be further divided into specializations in specific areas (usually on the basis of the student’s taking a certain block of courses).
