The MSc in Healthcare Infection Management is aimed at pharmacists, physicians, biomedical scientists and infection control specialists. The course will provide specialist training in the area of healthcare associated infections and their control.
The course is organized by the Department of Clinical Microbiology, The Medical School, Trinity College. There will be inputs from staff from St James´s Hospital, AMNCH Tallaght, and Dublin Institute of Technology. The course is delivered as lectures, demonstrations, seminars, practicals and workshops.
All students are required to attend the core curriculum of lectures during the two years with examinations at the end of each year. A dissertation project is carried out in the second year, and it is evaluated by internal and external assessors.Teaching will be delivered in 8 x 1 week blocks.

The core syllabus consists of the following modules:
* Clinical Microbiology & Infectious Diseases
* Epidemiology & Infection Control
* Antimicrobial Therapy & Resistance
* Multidisciplinary Management of Infection
* Dissertation
Teaching will take place in blocks of up to two weeks throughout each of two semesters. It is envisaged that there will be four teaching blocks per annum. Research projects may take place in Trinity College or in the student´s place of work.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.

* A medical degree
* An honors degree in Pharmacy, Biomedical Sciences, or Nursing
* An honors degree in another relevant science subject
* Individuals with relevant experience who are working in Healthcare
Applicants meeting these requirements may be required to attend for interview.
All applicants whose first language is not English and who have not been educated through the medium of English must present one of the following qualifications in the English language:
* IELTS: Grade 6.5
* TOEFL: 88 - iBT, 230 - Computer based, 570 - paper based
* Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English: Grade C
