This course allows you to critically evaluate the legal rules, regulations, theories and underlying policies relative to Corporate Law.
You will investigate and apply principles and rules found in various areas of corporate law to novel problems, and real-world and hypothetical scenarios.
The distinctiveness of this LLM programme lies in its coherent provision of postgraduate level study in the field of Corporate Law, an area of growing importance in commerce locally, nationally and internationally.
Relatively few law schools in the United Kingdom at present offer specific courses on Corporate Law, and fewer still offer the modules and options available at Leeds.
This course has five compulsory modules. You also choose another four optional modules to complete your course.
Compulsory modules
Insolvency law considers the history of insolvency and explores insolvency in today's world: its meaning and consequences. You investigate the theory, aims, purposes and principles that underpin the law, and examine the options available to insolvents, and the roles of those administering insolvent administrations.
Advanced Corporate Law considers a number of the primary contemporary issues and problems extant in corporate law and possible solutions and reforms.
International Corporate Governance examines the critical role played by public companies in the world's economy, providing a comprehensive study of the role of corporate governance in the world economy.
Research Methods focuses on the mechanics of the research process: how to formulate research questions, design research strategies and generally go about the process of 'researching.'
Dissertation allows you to tailor your own programme of training and research in consultation with a member of staff drawn from the school's MA/PhD supervisory panel.
