It then moves on to the practical aspects of managing the classroom in language teaching and provides an opportunity to specialise in an area of TESOL such as language testing, materials design or teaching young learners.
On completion of the programme you will be familiar with theoretical frameworks, materials and procedures for the study and evaluation of TESOL and you will have gained skills for the critical analysis of classroom practice.
Who is the course for?
The course is offered specifically to cater for the growing number of candidates wishing to follow an MA programme without having the normally required number of years of teaching experience.
You may be a recent graduate from a BA Degree in English language or linguistics or education, or you may have gained some informal or part-time teaching experience with individuals or small groups of language learners.
The programme provides an excellent first step towards a career in TESOL. Although registered for the MA in TESOL rather than TESOL Studies programme, you may like to read Yan Xian Yang's story about her experiences of studying here and living in Leeds.

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
Take testA Bachelor degree or equivalent professional qualification is required. If you have more than two years' relevant experience you should apply for the MA TESOL.
If you are not a native speaker of English you will also need to meet the following English Language Requirements;
* IELTS 6.5 with no grade below 6.0
* TOEFL paper-based 580 + TWE 4.0
* TOEFL computer-based 240 with essay 4.0
