HEALTH CARE EDUCATION

in the educational field and together examine the challenges for educators in the health care area that exist in times of globalization. The courses are also designed to increase students’ team working and leadership skills in health care education.
CARING SCIENCE/ NURSING
Caring is fundamental for people´s growth and health. Caring science is a discipline that focuses on caring related to health and suffering. Theories developed in caring science can be applied by different professions, but in this course the focus is on nursing. The aim is that the students will acquire advanced knowledge of philosophical, theoretical, and methodological premises in caring science and nursing, being able to critically approach and appraise scientific knowledge. This is a competence that is necessary for further developing evidence-based nursing, nursing education and research.
SCIENCE OF PUBLIC HEALTH
The tackling of social and gender-related inequality in health is one of the key issues for sustainable development in health and welfare. Therefore, differences in health due to gender and social position, as well as concepts and principles for tackling such inequalities, will be discussed. The implementation of measures that promote health at a local level and the interface between decision-making and implementation are crucial for understanding empowered health and welfare. Throughout the courses, there will be insights in modern research work in each field. Specific settings for health work, e.g. schools and health care of children, women and the elderly will be in focus. Comparative studies between Sweden and the students’ native countries will be encouraged in the individual tasks during the courses.
