The idea of the programme was based on a wide research done among top management of industrial multinational enterprises and internationally operating SMEs. The results of research indicate a growing demand for graduates with integrated competence of production engineering and production management, supported by the ability to operate within multinational teams and within the global business environment.
The programme is run jointly with Technical University of Milan (Politecnico di Milano),
Department of Production Engineering & Management (Dipartimento di Ingegneria Industriale).
The programme is intended to provide an integrated composition of advanced knowledge and skills for candidates planning to start their professional carriers in industrial companies exposed to the global business environment.
Two particular groups of future professionals are targeted:
1. Specialists for internationally operating industrial corporations working:
* as production and logistics managers;
* in engineering departments (as process engineers);
* in maintenance departments.
2. Top level staff (including owners) of globally operating industrial small and medium enterprises.
The programme is based on a modular architecture, which gives a lot of flexibility in shaping of individual curricula. The order in which the modules are taken is not determined.
However, it is limited by prerequisites. The two core components of the curricula give 80 ECTS, including 50% of the modules centred on production engineering, and 50% of the modules centred on industrial management. Specializing courses, i. e. those related to a chosen field of specialisation, provide the remaining 40 ECTS (including M.Sc. thesis/project).
Different specialisations may be easily developed by selection of electives devoted to:
* branch of industry (e.g. for automobile sector, white goods, fashion, aviation etc.)
* functional (e.g. for production managers, maintenance specialists, logistics managers etc.)
* technical (e.g. for automated production).
The standard of a core competence is protected by a set of minimum limit of credits to be acquired by all participants during the whole programme.
The programme is taught by internationally experienced people who have experience
in putting the theory into practice. Most of the faculties have practical experience, a strength reinforced by close links with industries through consultancy, sponsored research and teaching in executive development programmes.
