ParisTech and the Renault Foundation have partnered to create the ParisTech Master´s programme in Transport and Sustainable Development. This national Master´s degree is awarded by ParisTech, under the seals of Ecole des Ponts ParisTech, Ecole des MINES ParisTech and Ecole Polytechnique. The programme takes place in Paris, Champs-sur-Marne and Palaiseau.

Advantages of the programme

  • Lessons based on research at the leading-edge of innovation
  • Strong involvement of manufacturers
  • Substantial cultural cross-fertilization: students from many nationalities
  • Personalised student monitoring: 1 teacher for 5 students
  • Master´s programme that leads to national or international careers in all sectors with a strong connection to transportation systems

Objectives

Transport systems represent one of the fundamental pillars of a sustainable development approach for societies. They play a structuring role for human geography, impact the global and local environments and are located at the centre of the development of economic and social systems. Land-use planning, segregation of urban space, security problems, congestion, local atmospheric pollution, the greenhouse effect and the explosion of demand for mobility are just some of the challenges facing engineers in the 21st century. The TraDD Master´s programme provides engineers and economists of diverse nationalities with the necessary tools to position transport in a sustainable development process. It offers 700 hours of courses that enable students to:

  • understand the determining factors in transport demand (cargo and passengers);
  • determine the relevant fields of the different transport methods or combinations of methods;
  • identify technological, organisational and behavioural solutions that can be implemented to provide credible; operational responses to sustainable transport issues.

Job opportunities

This Master´s programme trains transport specialist engineers, managers and decision-makers in sustainable governance methods. It leads to national or international careers in all sectors with a strong connection to transport systems:

  • Transport equipment companies and major transport network operators;
  • Service companies: urban transport boards, vehicle rental companies and taxis;
  • International organisations: OECD, IEA, EC, UNEP, etc.;
  • National, regional or municipal public authorities;
  • Design departments and consulting firms specialised in land-use planning, urbanism and management of transport infrastructures.

Contents

The programme covers:

  • transportation and sustainable development issues;
  • transportation demand analysis;
  • sustainable transportation engineering;
  • transportation and social, economic and political regulation;
  • communication management.

The programme also includes integrating projects to encourage the mobilisation of acquired knowledge, lead to intercultural synthesis and communication and develop professional know-how.

Requirements

The Master´s programme is aimed at students from Japanese, Korean, Brazilian and Russian partner universities, as well as all students with a solid basic education in engineering sciences or economics (equivalent level of at least baccalaureate plus 4 years). The mathematics level must be equivalent to that of a scientific license. For non-francophone candidates, it is essential that they can understand, read and express themselves in French. Consequently, they should have as a minimum 450 points on the International French Test (TFI) or hold a Degree in French language studies (DELF1).

Additional Requirements

Minimal degree required: Bachelor's degree
Minimal amount of work experience Not specified

Accreditation

ParisTech courses are recognized by the state. They are regularly evaluated by French and international organizations (e.g. AERES, AQUIS, AACSB, AMBA, etc.).
