Location of ParisTech - Paris Institute of Technology

Led by ParisTech in partnership with a large consortium of academic institutions (University of Paris-Sud 11, ParisTech, Supélec, ECP and INSTN) and with the support of industrial establishments (EDF, AREVA, GDF-SUEZ), the Nuclear Energy Master´s programme is a 2-year curriculum (M1/M2).

Objectives

The "Nuclear Energy" Master´s programme fits into the context of a strong renewal of interest for nuclear energy worldwide. Its objective is to give high-level French and foreign students the main know-how required for the nuclear industry as well as preparing students for research. The originality of this Master´s programme is that it covers all of the fields related to nuclear energy.


Contents

The first year of the programme gives students the essential knowledge in:

  • elements of nuclear physics
  • materials science
  • energy fields
  • project management
  • electrical engineering
  • mathematics
  • process engineering
  • quantum mechanics
  • continuum mechanics

The second year offers five Research and Professional oriented programmes:

  • nuclear engineering
  • design of nuclear installations
  • operation of installations
  • fuel cycle (Engineering or Radiochemistry)
  • waste dismantlement and management

Requirements

This Master´s programme is open to, and in particular aimed at, international students from countries that might require nuclear education programmes in the context of contracts or agreements, or from countries where the manufacturers that support this programme have set up, or will set up, sustainable nuclear activities.
