The postgraduate Music Management course at the Center for Contemporary Music creates a new professional profile that combines artistic, technical and management aspects to counter the traditional distinction between musicians, producers and agents. This widens the musical and artistic working environment and takes account of the new information technologies and the radically changed situation in a globalized music market.
The digital media revolution has resulted in changes not only in artistic production conditions for creators of music but also, as a result of the easier access to new production and distribution resources, in the structure of the music market itself. The traditional distinction between musicians, producers and agents is becoming increasingly blurred in light of these modern market structures and the changing consumer behavior. This has resulted in new professional profiles that are more specialized and distinct.
The postgraduate university course in Music Management refers to employees of all fields of music economy as well as to musicians. It combines music theory, economics, communications and legal considerations to equip motivated students with the resources needed to meet the requirements of a rapidly changing European and global music market. It also provides musicians with the necessary theoretical knowledge to succeed in a highly competitive creative environment.
