The University of Liverpool, and its School of Psychology, has drawn upon its global reach of international practitioners and academics to create its first online postgraduate programme in the field of forensic psychology and criminal investigation.
Our MSc in Forensic Psychology and Criminal Investigation is designed for individuals currently involved in the process of criminal investigation, or for those who have an active and passionate interest in the psychology of crime, criminals and investigation.
Graduates will be aware of the issues, skills and techniques required to become a highly competent psychology professional, or to apply psychological principles in their careers. The initial core modules of the programme cover the principles of leadership, critical incident management and crisis intervention, team effectiveness, judgement and decision making.
Students are required to follow two, non-credit bearing, modules (Student Readiness Orientation and Foundations for Academic Success) that will prepare them for their online learning experience.
The programme then comprises eight modules (15 credits per module) and culminates in a dissertation (worth 60 credit points). The first module is nine weeks in length and each subsequent module is eight weeks. Modules are sequenced in an order that is best suited to the students´ development in the programme.
The culmination of the programme, this written project demonstrates students´ mastery and integration of all their previous learning. It is an original, scholarly work that applies the students´ new knowledge and experience and allows them to prove their proficiency in the skills and techniques they have studied and acquired.
Students choose their dissertation topic in conjunction with their Personal Dissertation Advisor, an academic supervisor who will provide support throughout the study and writing process.
Note on licensure: The MSc in Forensic Psychology and Criminal Investigation is not a licensure programme and does not prepare an individual to become a licensed psychology professional.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test if you come from a non-English speaking country.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.

All UK universities are regulated and monitored by a government body, the QAA. Some of the older, well-established UK Universities have been awarded a Royal Charter. The Royal Charter was granted to the University of Liverpool in 1903; it is a sign of proven academic quality and allows the University to independently award Bachelors, Masters, and to doctorate degrees.
The University of Liverpool is also funded by the Government (Department of Education and Science) via the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE). HEFCE established the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) to oversee the quality of degrees in HEFCE-funded universities.
The US and Canada are happy to accept the standard of degrees awarded by universities in the UK as equivalent to their own corresponding degrees.
The degrees offered via the Internet through Laureate Online Education are fully recognised Master's degree programmes of the University of Liverpool with exactly the same status and standing as other Masters level degrees of the University.
The University of Liverpool and Laureate Online Education partnership - the largest provider of online degrees in Europe - will mark a 10 year milestone of its online programmes. To commemorate this occasion, the University of Liverpool is introducing 10 scholarships, worth up to £20,000 each, funded by its online learning partner, Laureate Online Education.
Scholarships will be applicable for Bachelor degree holders graduated with honors or merit or to any individual able to articulate the benefits or recognizable impact upon their community.
