The two-year Master s programme in educational research, offered by the Faculty of Education, is based on the broad research domain of educational science, wherein the variation in research in terms of perspectives, theories and methods is extensive. The programme is interdisciplinary in nature and focuses on the study of learning as an individual, interactive and collective process in various settings in society.
You will follow courses in theory and research methodology, connected to the different research domains. You will also attend research seminars and optional courses within a specific research area. Throughout the educational programme you can, based on your personal interests, choose to affiliate with one of the several research environments at the faculty. Examples of the areas of research are: Early Childhood Education, Special Needs Education and Inclusion, Learning, Teaching and Information Technology, School Development/Action Research, Literacy, Politics of Education, Gender Research, Evaluation, Learning and Assessment of Foreign Languages, Subject Matter Education as well as Prerequisites for Educational Achievement and International Comparisons.
You will conclude the programme by writing a Master's thesis in the form of a publishable research paper. After having completed the programme, you will have a good overview of the scholarly inquiry related to education and its practical application as well as experience in professional writing and reporting on educational science research. Graduates of this programme are well prepared to apply for a PhD programme in educational research.
The two-year International Master Programme in Educational Research is based on varied and broad educational research at the Faculty of Education. The programme focuses on education and learning as individual, interactive and collective processes in various settings in society.
Some of the compulsory courses within the programme are designed in connection with the doctoral programme at the faculty. Throughout the educational programme the students will, based on personal interests, choose to affiliate with one of several research environments at the departments of the faculty.
Supervised by active researchers, the students will conclude the programme by writing a Master thesis in the form of a research paper. After having completed the programme, the students will have a good overview of the scholarly inquiry related to education and its practical application as well as experience in professional writing and
reporting on educational science research. Graduates of this programme are well prepared to apply for a PhD programme in educational research.
Completed studies (120 higher education credits, including a Master thesis, 30 higher education credits) will lead to a master degree: Master of Arts in Educational Research.
The International Master in Educational Research will be taught in English, as required by the application criteria.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
Take testEntrance Requirements: Bachelor´s degree in Education, or equivalent in Social Sciences (180 hec). English B level or English proficiency equivalent to IELTS 6.5 no part under 5.5 or TOEFL 575 p, TWE score 4.5 is also required.
Selection: Selction is based upon the amount of credit points. First priority is given to those applicants who have a Bachelor in Education and second priority to the applicants with a Bachelor in Social Sciences.
