Location of TiasNimbas Business School Tilburg

The degree of Master in Business Valuation (MBV) is awarded upon successful completion of the programme. This degree is conferred by Tilburg University on the basis of the conditions established by the Association of Universities in The Netherlands (VSNU or Vereniging van Samenwerkende Nederlandse Universiteiten).

By attending the TiasNimbas Executive Master of Business Valuation, participants will:

  • learn about the importance of valuation in different settings;
  • identify the different scenarios for doing business valuations;
  • recognise the different methods and valuation techniques;
  • understand the advantages and shortcomings of different valuation techniques;
  • understand how financial theory can provide important valuation insights;
  • list the roles played by public markets in business valuation;
  • be able to to identify the key value drivers;
  • experience the use of valuation techniques through the use of business cases;
  • apply the newly acquired knowledge and insights into their own practice;
  • be able to register as RV, when completing an extra valuation report;
  • adding four additional Master in Finance modules may lead to the degree of Master in Finance.

Assessment

After each fundamental, advanced and practice course the participants will be evaluated by a written assignment which may take the form of a paper, a set of exercises or a case. The assignment will be directly related to course content. For instance, the participants could study the effects of the move towards new international accounting standards on earnings reporting. Exercises on risk management may further clarify the theory of the advanced course on this topic. A case may be solved on project valuation using real options capturing corporate expansion or contraction strategies.

The curriculum of the Master of Business Valuation reflects the basic philosophy of TiasNimbas Business School.
The programme addresses relevant theory, applications and best practice methods. The programme is built up of three main consecutive and complementary modules.

Modules *

The 'Core Courses' provide a theoretical framework:

(1.) Quantitative Tools for Financial Management
(2.) Principles of Business Valuation
(3.) Fiscal and Business Law / Corporate Governance
(4.) Financial Reporting and Analysis

The 'Advanced Courses' lay a bridge between theory and daily practice:

(7.) Mergers, Acquisitions and Corporate Restructuring / Contract Negotiation Skills
(9.) Advanced Corporate Finance
(10.) Entrepreneurial Finance

The 'Practice Courses' ensure that you are able to apply the newly acquired knowledge in your own practice:

(5.) Register Valuator Practice I (collectively)
(6.) Register Valuator Practice II (collectively)
(8.) Register Valuator Practice III (collectively) (A fiscal Law Exam will be taken after this course)
(11.) Writing of valuation report (individually)

Some of the modules will also be attended by participants of the TiasNimbas Master in Finance Programme.

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test if you come from a non-English speaking country.

Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.

Requirements

The quality of your programme is partly based on the quality of the participants. Therefore admissions at TiasNimbas is competitive.

Target Group:

  • The programme is intended for university (or HBO) graduates.
  • Proficiency in English. As English is increasingly becoming the language of business communication, most of the background literature is in English.
  • A minimum of 5 years work experience. MBV is intended for participants who aspire to a top financial position in a corporation, a general management position in a financial institution or a career in financial consulting.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor or master degree;
  • Minimum of 3-6 years of work experience;
  • Knowledge

Enrolment:

  • When we received your application form, your programme adviser will contact you to arrange an interview with the Academic Director of the programme;
  • Before the interview please sent a curriculum vitae and a passport photograph by email;
  • Please bring the following to the interview: copies of degrees, diplomas, school transcripts from your highest level of education (certified translations necessary if other than English, German, Dutch, French or Spanish)
  • This interview, which is informal and free of obligation, is intended to determine whether your expectations fit with the programme and whether you fit within the envisioned group. If, on the basis of this interview, you are admitted and you decide to participate, you will receive a 'Participation Confirmation Form', which you can use to definitively confirm your participation.

The Association of MBAs (AMBA) is an international organisation that has accredited all our MBA programmes, including those offered in partnership with Bradford University School of Management. In addition, Bradford University is accredited by EQUIS.

The IMM (International Executive MBA Programme) is one of our programmes that, through its founding partners and their respective universities, qualifies for the international AACSB accreditation since both Purdue University and Tilburg University are AACSB accredited.In The Netherlands and Belgium, our MSc programme, as well as the Executive Master of Finance and Control (RC) are accredited by the NVAO. The International Executive Doctorate (DBA+PhD), offered in partnership with the Cranfield University School of Management, is accredited by the Economic and Social Science Research Council (ESRC). This programme is one of only six in the UK to be recognised.

TiasNimbas is accredited by CEDEO for Accountancy Programmes. A selection of programmes at TiasNimbas is available for achieving the PE (permanent education) requirements for Royal NIVRA (Koninklijk Nederlands Instituut voor Registeraccountants).
