Human activities are increasingly affecting all environmental sectors, degrading air, water and soil and overall planetary livability. This MSc program paves the way for professional careers in environmental engineering, providing tools for decision making towards sustainability in economic and social developments. The advanced curriculum offers in-depth expertise in multiple facets of environmental science, technology, policy and management. Engineers will develop multidisciplinary skills, including environmental quality monitoring and control, waste/wastewater treatment unit design and operation, environmental management, environmental impact assessment and environmental resource planning and management, all within a sustainable development approach.

In general, the applicants to the MSc. in Environmental Engineering must be holders of a bachelor degree or legal equivalent in engineering or related area. Holders of academic, scientific or a professional curriculum recognized by the Scientific Council of the ESB-UCP as as adequate for carrying out this cycle of studies, may also apply.
Applicants will be assessed based on the final grade of the bachelor degree, on the background of the applicants, and on the scientific, academic and/or professional curriculum. When necessary, an interview will take place, in order to assess, among other things, the motivation of the candidate.
