This programme focuses on a systemic approach to wide-ranging problems, integrating technical, environmental and social aspects. This approach is considered to show the way to sustainable development.
The two-year programme will provide you with a solid knowledge base of Industrial Ecology, which can be called the science of sustainability. This relatively new field aims for a sustainable co-existence of the technosphere and the environment. The analogy between natural and technical systems and processes is a core concept. Processes in nature, where cycles are closed and waste from one process is input for another, are models for socio-technological processes. Courses and modules are practice-focused and are taught by means of project teamwork, presentations and written examinations. The programme provides possibilities for exchange with foreign universities and companies. During the group projects multidisciplinary teams of students will have the task of analyzing and developing solutions for specific industry-related sustainability problems.
