An integrative and flexible approach characterises the design of the MBA program which is based on a comprehensive redesign of management education at Sabanci University. First and foremost, programs include components that ensure integration among the variety of learning activities that take place over the period of two years. The "Practice Development" and "Practice Sharing" topics, are examples of activities that serve as integrative mechanisms. They are included in the program to deal with the vague links that often exist among topic areas in the conventional MBA programs.
The MBA program also possesses a built-in flexible structure, which stems from the philosophy of FMAN that is "capacity to change" as a critical organizational capability in the information age. Not only are the first year foundation subjects under continuous critical appraisal, but also the second year of the program is structured in such a way that can easily adapt to changes in subject areas and the projects to be undertaken by participants.
Core Curriculum
Courses in the core curriculum introduce functional areas while increasing awareness of the context in which businesses operate. Three categories of courses offer distinct learning outcomes.
Technical Proficiency
These are the background and area courses taken in the first year of study. The sequence, beginning with courses in Statistics, Economics, and Financial Reporting, progresses to Finance, Marketing, Operations Management, and Information Systems
Contextual Awareness
The six courses in this category form the distinctive strength of the Sabanci MBA core program, enhancing students' understanding of the business environment. Global Business Context builds an awareness of the globalization process and is complemented with an understanding of the local environment through Turkish Business Context as well as Business Law for Managers.
In a different vein, Organizational Behavior provides an understanding of the human factor in organizations, featuring a breadth of topics such as motivation, power and conflict, effective team management as well as leadership. In Practice Development, students develop their professional orientation and career plans through interaction with business executives and gain a reflective capability, a skill crucial to incorporating lessons experiences into their practices.
The last course in this category, Ethics in Business, is devoted to raising awareness of the importance of personal integrity and ethical conduct in the business world.
Integration into General Management
Two second-year courses, Strategic Management and Business Simulation, build on the technical proficiency gained in the first year, integrating this knowledge within a general management framework. Strategic Management sets the direction of a company for sustainable success. Business Simulation, an intensive business competition "game", has student teams manage a simulated business
Electives
A wide range of second-year elective courses is offered as a means of gaining in-depth knowledge in different functional areas. Students can tailor these electives to specialize in one particular area or to learn more about a number of areas. In order to increase variety and flexibility, electives are offered as half-semester (7 week, 1.5 credit) or full-semester (14 week, 3 credit) courses. In addition to the courses offered to MBA and MiF (Master's in Finance) students, MBA students can take up to 2 courses offered in the undergraduate program.

CAP (Company Action Projects)
The emphasis of the second year of the Sabanci MBA is the Company Action Projects (CAP). CAP's distinctive feature is that these are real projects companies want to undertake. Our "client" companies participate in CAP not only to contribute to our educational mission but also they see real value in the work of our students. Over the years, many projects have been successfully conducted and finalized in a wide range of companies, from small and medium sized local firms to the subsidiaries of multinational corporations. Our experience shows that CAP has been very valuable both for our students and our partner companies.
