Are you interested in becoming a professional sustainability practitioner who can contribute to sustainable technical solutions? We are faced with immense challenges arising from pressure on the environment and natural resources such as climate change, food scarcity and chemical risks. The programme focuses on the connections between technology development, environmental problems and societal change.
The aim is to educate professional sustainability engineers who can participate in decision-making processes at different societal levels, from company or consultancy agency level to governmental strategic planning process level.
Who should apply
The programme welcomes students from all fields of engineering.
The unique combination of engineering and in-depth knowledge of sustainability science and practice prepares students for a range of challenging roles in society – from changing industrial corporations to taking part in international negotiations.
Why apply
The programme equips students with the competencies, knowledge and tools needed to analyse environmental impact and resource constraints, to suggest and develop measures and to plan, lead, evaluate and follow up the effects of measures related to e.g. product development, land and resource use, and large-scale urban planning processes.
Technology, Society and the Environment is a development of the previous programmes Industrial Ecology and Environmental measurements and Assessments. The new programme was developed by leading professionals in the field who have close contact with industry, the authorities and consultants to ensure an educational profile that meets the needs of the target groups.
The core courses are closely connected to ongoing research at the Divisions of Environmental Systems Analysis and Physical Resource Theory at the Department of Energy and Environment and thus serve as a good basis for performing research within energy and the environment.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
