You'll have the flexibility to look at public and private law and in more than one jurisdiction. It's ideal if you're looking to work in international organisations.
You will also appreciate the value of modern international law and the substance of comparing schools of thought and through this develop a deep understanding of developments in legal theory and practice.
The programme consists of core and optional modules. The core modules cover scholarly research and the key areas of public international law and comparative jurisprudence. Your option modules cover the areas of international and comparative law.
Uniquely, you can put your learning in to practice by selecting the Clinic option module. This is a suitable short placement relevant to international or comparative law. For example, it may be in the immigration and family advice department of Derby Law Centre. This module builds on the success we have achieved at undergraduate level for our Clinic module, for which we were Highly Commended by the Attorney General.
You will pull all of your studies together in a final independent study concentrating on an area of your own research.
Throughout the course you will be given flexibility in the subject matter of a number of assessments, and have the freedom to apply your coursework and assessments to different jurisdictions.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
