Location of University of Glasgow

* The programme responds to radical changes in approaches to equalities and human rights in Scotland, the UK and beyond. Taught by a team of specialists from a range of areas of inequality, including gender, racism, sexuality, disability and faith, the programme looks at what equality and human rights mean and what practical steps can be taken to achieve equality and human rights.
* You will examine the major causes of inequality today and how the idea that certain groups are less equal than others emerged. You will also study what sustains that idea and how these groups are interrelated.

You will take two core courses and four optional courses. A 12,000-15,000 word dissertation will be submitted in September.

You must complete at least three of these courses.

* The disabling society
* Sexualities and society
* Racism and modernity
* Religion in society
* Class and stratification
* Poverty and equality in the global economy
* Gender in society.

You can take all options in sociology, or one from another subject including politics, Central & East European studies and law.

Requirements

Entry requirements for postgraduate taught programmes are a 2.1 Honours degree or equivalent qualification (for example, GPA 3.0 or above) in a relevant subject unless otherwise specified.

If your first language is not English, the University sets a minimum English Language proficiency level
