Employers today are increasingly selective and look for more than just a good first degree. A Durham MA aims to give you a head start and so increase your chances of an accelerated career path.

The School´s strong research culture ensures that our MA programmes generally are among the best in the UK.

Our Masters programmes are designed as generalist, career entry degrees. The curriculum covers the relevant theoretical, conceptual and practical aspects of business and management before allowing you to specialise in your particular chosen area.

The MA requires successful completion of three elements:

* core modules
* elective modules
* 12,000-word dissertation.

The core and elective modules you take depend on which programme you study.

We offer two innovative MA programmes by distance learning:

* MA in Management
* MA in Marketing

A Durham Business School masters degree will help you gain a competitive edge in an over-crowded job market. If you are a recent graduate it will help you develop skills and knowledge directly relevant to your employer's needs. For those already in a career it will build on existing experience to help give your career a boost, or provide you with a platform for career change. Every year, almost two-thirds of our applicants choose Durham primarily for its reputation for quality in providing opportunities for personal and professional development.

You will be taught by means of distance learning materials and seminars developed by world-class faculty at the cutting-edge of research into business, management, economics and finance. By exposing students to the frontiers of the subject and training them in relevant research skills, these degrees are often used as a platform from which to progress to study at both MPhil and PhD levels. Remember, Durham Business School is part of Durham University, one of the leading research universities in the world.

You will be expected to deal with your chosen topic in a competent and scholarly manner, and to display critical discrimination and a sense of proportion in evaluating evidence and the opinions of others.

IELTS

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
