Location of University of Greenwich

Civil engineering requires the ability to develop original solutions to design, construction, maintenance and management problems within the context of construction projects. Our Department in close collaboration with the construction industry ensures that our students are taught the skills required to work in today's global market. Students study either the main BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering programme or one of its two specialist routes. Each explores core engineering principles, while the courses chosen also focus on subjects related to the student's chosen route. The BEng Honours suite of programmes is accredited by the Joint Board of Moderators which includes the Institution of Civil Engineers, the Institution of Structural Engineers, the Institution of Highways and Transportation and the Institute of Highway Incorporated Engineers with respect to registration as a chartered engineer.

Our two professors in the department have been sponsored by Atkins, one of the UK's leading international engineering consultancies, and the Rochester Bridge Trust one of the oldest organisations providing and maintaining river crossings in the UK respectively.

Career options
Graduates can find employment with consulting engineers, contracting organisations, and national and local government.
