The Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management (PgD HRM) is a part-time programme designed for the needs of HR practitioners who want to consolidate their skills and knowledge with a professionally recognised qualification. This is also offered as a collaborative programme through Chichester College. Once students have successfully completed the PgD HRM, they can then progress to the Master's top-up which comprises a seven day block release programme followed by a dissertation. For students who prefer to study full-time, we also offer MSc Human Resource Management which combines the PgD and MSc over a period 14 months. The choice of dissertation topic will determine whether a student will be considered for the award of MSc Human Resource Management (MSc HRM) or MSc Human Resource Development (MSc HRD).

This programme is vocationally focused for those who wish to become or to develop further as a qualified professional working in human resource management. The Postgraduate Diploma provides students with the generalist grounding needed to operate as an HR professional, whilst the Master's equips course members to operate effectively at a strategic HR level. The University of Portsmouth is a Centre of Research Excellence for the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. Graduateship of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development is conferred upon successful completion of the Postgraduate Diploma in HRM (120 Master's level credits).

Requirements

An honours degree or equivalent and an appreciation of the HR function. Candidates with HR/ Personnel experience and CIPD certification at level 3 or level 5 will be considered. Professional experience and/or equivalent qualification may be considered.

English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 with a minimum score of 6.0 in all individual components, or equivalent.
