How will I be assessed?

Opal College London offers a flexible approach to assessment whilst maintaining rigorous standards. Practical skills will be assessed throughout the course in a commercial setting in the salon. Your underpinning knowledge will be tested through written tests, oral questioning, written assignment work, photographic evidence and client reports. A portfolio is compiled as part of the evidence forthe awarding body, which will contain your projects and evidence of your practical abilities.

How many hours per week do I have to attend College for?

This is a full time course. Successful completion of this course will require a combination of self study and tutor directed study. Normally you will spend 15-18 hours of tutor directed study every week on the First Diploma, Key Skills and additional studies. Students are expected to study, practice skills and produce written work outside of this time. Normally 3 additional hours are dedicated to the development of your functional skills qualifications. You will be expected to do some further work at home which could be assignment work or on assignments.

What can I do when I complete the course?

It is recommended that you progress on to QCF Level 3 Beauty Therapy to give you the widest range of employment possibilities for the future.

Examples of future employment possibilities include salons, in-flight therapies, Health Spas, Cruise Liners, leisure facilities, and department stores.

OCL is accredited by The Organisation for Tourism and Hospitality Management (OTHM) as a tuition provider. OTHM was founded in 2003 as a professional membership body servicing the tourism and hospitality industry throughout the world.
