How will I be assessed?

You will be given a range of assignments for which you are required to provide evidence in a variety of ways including presentations and written work. All your work will be assessed by tutors who will give you continuous feedback so that you can improve throughout the year.

How many hours per week do I have to attend College for?

This is a full time course. Successful completion of this course will require a combination of self study and tutor directed study. Normally you will spend 15-18 hours of tutor directed study every week at College with further time being spent on assignment work and research which can be done whilst at College or at home.

What can I do when I complete the course?

A successful learner would be able to go into employment within IT related work or if you wished to continue at College you could go onto the BTEC National Diploma which is a two year course. You must have passed all units and have a level 2 Key Skill in Communications.

Edexcel (BTEC)

OCL is accredited by Edexcel (Business Technology Engineering Council). We are an Edexcel approved Course Provider and Examination Centre. Edexcel has granted the LCAS accreditation to offer programmes in Management Studies (also known as Strategic Management and Leadership).

The Organisation for Tourism and Hospitality Management (OTHM)

OCL is accredited by The Organisation for Tourism and Hospitality Management (OTHM) as a tuition provider. OTHM was founded in 2003 as a professional membership body servicing the tourism and hospitality industry throughout the world.

The aim of OTHM is to support the people who work in the tourism and hospitality industry. In our Mission Statement we state that OTHM:

• aims to act as a forum for the discussion of issues relevant to the industry
• promotes professionalism in the industry
• promotes ethical practice and environmental awareness in the industry.

The long term academic partners of OTHM, The London South Bank University has signed an articulation agreement with OTHM, that recognises OTHM qualifications for entry into their BA (Hons) and Master's Level.The Thames Valley University also accredited OTHM programmes in September 2007 to allow access to their Tourism and Hospitality Degree and Postgraduate programmes.
