Interior design has become increasingly important in our modern changing world. The imperative for sustainable solutions and the reuse of buildings provides huge challenges, but there are few professionals properly equipped to engage creatively with the challenges. Interior design can be transient or durable, small or large, engage at a detailed product design level or at an urban level, but at whichever level the demands for skilled professionals is increasing, as is the requirement for sustainable solutions.

The course provides opportunities for you to engage in the interior idea and exploration of space conceptually and pragmatically. This exploration will encourage responses to existing buildings, the consideration of materiality and the relationship of the interior idea to architecture. This will take place in an environment where a range of Master's programmes, associated with architecture, are studied and you will be encouraged to enter a discourse with architects and sustainable and urban designers, in order to contribute to the debate about the potential role of designers in the generation of interiors and sustainable environments. You will also generate evidence-based design decisions and design guidance, utilising conceptual thinking, research and computing skills.
