The University of Bristol's MSc in Environmental Policy and Management trains highly skilled graduates for professional employment in the public and private sectors, consultancies, and non-governmental/advocacy organisations. The curriculum is aimed at talented graduates seeking to enter, or upgrade their expertise in, the fields of environmental management, policy, protection, and advocacy. The programme is provided by the School of Geographical Sciences, the top geography department in the UK and a world-leading centre for research and teaching in environmental processes, systems and the social sciences.


Contents

Programme Structure

Core modules taught by social scientists provide training in corporate and public environmental governance, and the use of social statistics. Natural scientists introduce students to fundamentals of environmental science, with an emphasis on climate change, and to the analytical techniques of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and remote sensing..

1. Five core training modules taught in First and Second Terms:

* Corporate Environmental Management
* Environmental Policy and Politics
* Climate Change: Science and Impacts
* Introduction to remote Sensing and GIS for Earth System Science Applications
* Social Statistics: their use and abuse in business, politics and the media

2. One option from the following*:

* Migration and Mobility
* Postcolonial cities
* Nature, Knowledge and Technoscience
* Affect/Biopolitics/Technologies
* After Neoliberalism?

*subject to availability and revision

3. A research dissertation of 15,000 words

IELTS

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.

Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.

Entry requirements

The programme is open to graduates of any discipline with an Upper second-class Honours degree (2:1) (or equivalent). For information on international equivalent qualifications, please see our International Office website. Those unable to satisfy these requirements fully may be admitted to the Certificate and Diploma in the first instance, and on successful completion, progress to the MSc.

Language requirements

IELTS score of 6.5. We do accept other language tests; please see our website for further details.
