The Food and Wine industries all over the world need new, smart, outstanding managers to capitalize on all the opportunities in the global market. Italy has developed a specific knowledge in this field, drawing upon its rich tradition and successful practices, also thanks to the top quality of its local products.
Alma Graduate School / University of Bologna is now introducing the first MBA major dedicated to the development of talented managers in the food and wine industry. This is the only MBA focused on the exclusive knowledge of the most successful Italian enterprises in the gastronomy and enology sector.
The program is an intensive 12-month international program entirely taught in English. Participants will be able to import the "Cucina Italiana" brand all over the world, running horeca, managing food processing companies, trading Italian food worldwide.
Program Structure
The MBA Food and Wine is a challenging, intensive 12-month full-time international program entirely taught in English.
The curriculum of the MBA Food and Wine is divided in two main parts: General Management (MBA core courses) and a Food and Wine concentration, designed to provide an opportunity for specialization and in-depth focus on the gastronomy and enology sector.
Alma Graduate School, together with leading companies and managers of the sector, will provide participants with a first-hand full immersion in the food and wine world. Open discussions and meetings with professionals from the sector will also give students an opportunity to discuss specific issues, and learn from actual testimonies and experiences of the real business world. Students will also achieve a considerable first-hand experience by participating in extracurricular activities, such as: field trips, in-company day visits, wine and food tasting, and more...
Other program features are: internships, career development activities, and a business English course.
Intensive Italian classes are offered free of charge to international participants who wish to improve their language skills during their stay in Italy. Italian classes are scheduled in September 2012, prior to the beginning of the MBA courses.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test if you come from a non-English speaking country.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.

The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required of all candidates whose native language is not English. The IELTS is acceptable as an alternative. Waivers may apply. There is no minimum TOEFL/IELTS score required.
IMPORTANT. Students possessing a degree obtained abroad must submit a recognition of their qualification for the purposes of admission to the program issued by the competent Italian Diplomatic Representation.
Admission procedures:
The admissions process is divided in two rounds of application:
Round I: February, 1st 2012 - April, 2nd 2012
Round II: April, 4th 2012 - July, 2nd 2012
Admission to the program is subject to the positive assessment of the candidates' individual interview and qualifications (e.g. curriculum vitae, GMAT/GRE, reference letters, etc.).
The Admission Board, made up of Alma Graduate School faculty members, reviews the applications on a rolling basis. Candidates will be contacted by an admissions team member as soon as their application has reached Alma Graduate School.
In line with the number of available places, admission the program is granted according to the applicants' position in the list of qualified candidates, drawn up on the basis of the total score awarded at the end of the admission process.
Students who achieve positions of merit in the final list of qualified candidates may benefit from full or partial scholarships. All students are eligible to apply for a special long-term and low-interest honor loan (no collateral required).

Scholarships and Financial Aid
Alma Graduate School offers numerous full and partials scholarships for participants of the MBA Food and Wine. Scholarships range from 10,000 euro to 27,000 euro.
Thanks to an agreement between Alma Graduate School and UniCredit, MBA Food and Wine participants are also eligible to apply for a long-term and low-interest (no collateral required) honor loan. Loans will cover the full amount of the tuition fee or the portion of it that is not covered by the scholarship. In addition, all students can benefit from a 10,000 euro loan, designed to help them cover their living expenses in Bologna during the academic year.
Work Study Program
The Alma Graduate School Work Study Program (WSP) gives a limited number of selected students the possibility of receiving extra financial aid in exchange for their collaboration on various school projects, examples of which may include research, consulting, and development activities. Projects are assigned based on a careful analysis of each student's background, characteristics, and experience.
