Our mission is to conduct quality research and knowledge transfer in response to practical demands in defence, healthcare, marine, manufacturing and service industries,
Research, knowledge transfer and consultancy also underpin teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Our research and knowledge transfer activities are focused on two strategic areas:
* Materials and Structural Integrity
* Manufacturing and System Engineering
The Department is well equipped with some of the start-of-the-art experimental and computational facilities, including laboratories for Biomechanics, Fatigue and Fracture, Manufacturing Engineering and Advanced Polymer and Composite Materials.
The course can be studied full-time over two years or part-time over four years.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.

A good honours degree or equivalent in a relevant subject or a master's degree in an appropriate subject. Exceptionally, equivalent professional experience and/or qualifications will be considered.
English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 7.0 or equivalent.
