The psychology of human performance in sport and/or exercise environments is fundamental to helping individuals to realise their physical, technical and/or health performance potential. With the increased awareness as to the negative consequences of an inactive, obese lifestyle, government and society are becoming increasingly interested in understanding ways to optimise elite sporting performance in addition to sustaining an active and healthy general population. The present British Psychological Society (BPS) accredited course aims to train students in understanding how the mind can impact upon human behaviour and performance within competitive sport and everyday physical activity settings.
This course can be studied full-time for one year or part-time for two years.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
Take testA 2:1 honours degree or equivalent in a BPS accredited psychology, sports psychology or related undergraduate course that confers Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC). Applicants who also hold a 2:1 honours degree in a related discipline and have completed a BPS accredited conversion course (eg: Graduate Diploma in Psychology) will also be considered. Students with a 2:1 or 1st in Sport and Exercise Science or a related area are eligible for this course. Students will be encouraged to follow accreditation routes such as that offered by the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES), but will not be able to follow the BPS training route.
