The Subject AreaPolymer technologies focuses on the research and application of the physical, chemical and engineering properties of plastics. The goal is to develop certain plastics that will be needed for further use or production. In order to compete internationally, it is essential for the plastics industry to have access to well-educated polymer engineers who are familiar with cutting edge technology, the construction of plastic components, and plastics processing procedures. The program is embedded in the framework of polymer technology studies at JKU and has been designed to keep in pace with the diverse demands of various job areas in plastics.

The Academic Degree Program of Study

Disciplines in polymer technologies, polymer chemistry, mechanical engineering and mechatronics are the corner stones that make up this new program of study in plastics engineering. Hands-on training enables contact with domestic and internationally active companies during studies. In addition to concentrated instruction in plastics, courses will be offered which will combine content in science and engineering. These combination courses are very sought-after. Modern engineering equipment at newly founded institutes and an innovative curriculum enable cutting edge studies.
The Master's degree program in Management in Polymer Technology is an in-depth study that expands on material covered in the Bachelor's degree program in Polymer Engineering Technologies, Chemical Engineering, Information Technology, Mechatronics, Technical Mathematics and other equivalent areas of study.
In order to compete internationally, the Master's degree program "Management in Polymer Technology" will be offered in English only.

Potential Career Opportunities

Graduates of Management in Polymer Technology are in high demand and job prospects are excellent. Graduates are involved in areas that include the development and manufacturing of new plastic products and substances, such as the construction of new innovative plastic-manufacturing equipment. Career opportunities include research and development, application technology, manufacturing, management positions, civil engineering, packaging, and the aerospace industry as well as in the sporting goods, automotive and the electrical industry.
