Contents

Master thesis
The Master´s thesis is intended to qualify the student for research in computational linguistics and language technology. The student chooses a topic to be investigated, and the result is presented in the form of a thesis. The thesis need not present new material or reach new and original conclusions and insights in order to be accepted, but it should treat its material in accordance with the methodological standards of the field. The size of theses will vary, but a thesis will normally be between 50 and 120 pages long.

The topic of the thesis must be approved by the department and fall within a sub-field in which the department has or can provide the required competence for supervision. The student has the right to be assigned a supervisor for the thesis, chosen by the department. The student and the supervisor will sign a supervision contract.

Method
The research methods comprise, e.g., the building and empirical testing of language models, both rule based (e.g., computational grammars) and statistical. Relevant test methods are the construction and use of text corpora, maschine learning methods, and psycholinguistic methods for testing against human subjects.

IELTS

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.

Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
