Location of University of Glasgow

You will take one core course and choose five optional courses. You will also produce a dissertation on a specialist topic agreed with your supervisor.

Semester 1

* Interdisciplinary perspectives on Scottish culture
* Two optional courses.

Semester 2

* Three optional courses (one of these can be an approved option from a related programme).

* Completion of a dissertation.

* Themes in later medieval Scottish archaeology
* Gaelic (ab initio)
* Gaelic (intermediate)
* Gaidhlig Adhartach (Gaelic for fluent speakers)
* Introduction to early Gaelic 1
* Introduction to early Gaelic 2
* Advanced early Gaelic 1
* Advanced early Gaelic 2
* Themes and debates in Celtic studies
* Approaching the past: sources and methods in medieval Scottish and Celtic studies
* Introduction to the sources for early medieval Scottish Christianity
* Translation & the languages of Scotland
* Recent Scottish drama in translation
* Moliere in Scotland
* History of Scots and English in Scotland (I, II, and III)
* Classical literature in Scotland
* Special option (an approved topic with a specified tutor).

IELTS

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.

Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.

Requirements

Normally, at least a 2.1 Honours degree (or equivalent qualification) in a core or cognate discipline (Archaeology, Celtic & Gaelic, History, Literature, etc.).

Applicants with a lower second class Honours degree or non-standard qualification may be considered for entry to the Postgraduate Diploma with the possibility of transfer to the MLitt following successful completion of the taught component of the programme.

English language If your first language is not English, the University sets a minimum English Language proficiency level. See
