This is one of over ten degree pathways offered in the Masters Programme in Humanities with Specialisation. Students on the Programme take some common modules, and are able to draw upon the research culture of the School of Humanities. All the core teaching is conducted 5.30-7.30pm to allow attendance by part-time and full-time students alike. Other classes are scheduled for the mutual convenience of staff and students.

Aims of the Programme:

To offer students the opportunity of advanced philosophical study which may serve as the grounding for PhD research. This will entail a broadening of students' intellectual horizons, a deepening of their critical responses, and the development of their skills of research, reflection and presentation.

Students will work with specialists to gain a deepened understanding of key thinkers and texts from the continental tradition.

Contents

Core modules: Generic Skills (15 credits), Theory in the Humanities I, II & III (15 credits each)

A self-directed study option is also available. This module allows students to design and execute a project in a philosophical area of their choosing, subject to available supervision.
