Aims of the Programme:
This programme aims to provide a one-year training in literary and cultural research as a firm basis for proceeding to doctoral work, as well as a one-year taught postgraduate programme to suit individual student research interests and research needs
The programme also intends to enable completion of a dissertation of 15,000-20,000 words: an independent piece of work based on primary texts and sources.
It has particular (not exclusive) emphases on the 'long' Nineteenth Century, on the 'long' Twentieth Century, and on creative writing. It provides outstanding opportunity for students interested in pursuing Nineteenth and/or Twentieth Century and contemporary topics beyond a first degree, directed by specialists in the fields, before embarking upon a PhD.
