This degree offers specialist interdisciplinary study within Philosophy and English Studies. It brings together modules addressing the interrelations between literary practice and philosophical perspectives.
This is one of over ten degree pathways offered in the Masters Programme in Humanities with Specialisation. Students on the Programme take some common modules, and are able to draw upon the research culture of the School of Humanities. All the core teaching is conducted 5.30-7.30pm to allow attendance by part-time and full-time students alike. Other classes are scheduled for the mutual convenience of staff and students.
All our Humanities MLitt degrees have a common structure of 60 (4 x 15) credits of:
- Generic Skills
- Theory in the Humanities I, II & III

Masters students go on to undertake a dissertation, which can be in either English or Philosophy, or of an interdisciplinary nature.
Methods of Assessment:
Assessment includes essays, skills tests, a presentation and a dissertation.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
Take testStudents will normally be expected to have an honours degree, at first class or upper second level.
English Language Requirement: IELTS of 6.5 (or equivalent), if your first language is not English.
