This programme offers a postgraduate Certificate, Diploma and MSc degree in Local and Regional Economic Development. All modules are provided by distance learning and the programme is run jointly by the Universities of Dundee, Coventry and Sheffield Hallam. Teaching follows a modular framework, enabling each student to progress at her or his own pace through the system.

Three "core" modules provide a PG Certificate; three further modules provide the Diploma and a dissertation added to the six modules leads to a Master of Science degree. If you complete the full MSc you will be able to graduate from the University of Dundee. This modular approach has also allowed each of the participating universities to concentrate on its own special strengths, which gives the EDDLC scheme an additional advantage over courses based at a single institution.

Aims of the Programme:

To develop awareness, understanding and skills in Local and Regional Economic Development.

It involves reflection on current practice and issues raised in the light of the literature on communities and their social, economic, environmental and political development.

Two one-day workshops will be held in Coventry, at the start and end of the module. An important element will be the interaction between students in differing locations and with differing problems, providing learning opportunities for the whole group.
