Location of University of Dundee

Depiction & Identification of the Dead encompasses a wide range of subjects, notably facial identification, two and three-dimensional facial reconstruction, craniofacial superimposition, taphonomy, skull assessment and post-mortem depiction.

Aims of the Programme:

The programme aims to provide professional training and development for forensic and archaeological artists and forensic scientists. The programme should appeal to existing professionals from within the police force or forensic sciences seeking validation or further specialisation of existing skills to conform with medico-legal procedures and for registration with relevant professional bodies.


Contents

Students will study alongside the full-time and part-time Forensic Art and Medical Art MSc's who share part or all of this module.

The module is delivered using traditional methods including lectures, practical studio sessions, workshops and small group discussions.

On successful completion of this module there is an exit award of a Professional Certificate in 'Depiction & Identification of the Dead'

The module will be assessed by coursework only

Requirements

Entry requirements will be related to qualifications and/or work experience. A background including anatomical study and/or professional forensic art/science experience is preferred. All applicants must supply a portfolio of work for assessment.

A relevant first or upper second class honours degree in Art/Design or related forensic science will be considered if you have no professional experience.

English Language Requirement: IELTS of 6.0 (or equivalent), if your first language is not English.
