MSc Applied Professional Studies(Tertiary Education) is one of in our suite of MSc Applied Professional Studies programmes. This range of innovative, inter-professional programmes that are dedicated to developing and integrating contemporary practice, helping practitioners to engage creatively with the concerns of their profession in a research-informed way.
The named award MSc Applied Professional Studies (Tertiary Education) encourages participants to explore the philosophical and theoretical foundations, policies, research and professional underpinnings of education and the impact of policies and practice on children, young people, families and communities. Using critical skills of inquiry to examine and question policies, strategies and initiatives in relation to philosophical and theoretical foundations gaining insight from International, European, national and local perspectives.
Students can choose to leave with a PGCertificate, a PGDiploma or a Master of Science degree (MSc).
The programme is structured in a modular format of 6 modules and can be completed within 3 years. Practitioner research is a central theme of the programme and threaded throughout all module areas are inquiry-based learning activities building towards a Research Project or Dissertation.

- Review of relevant literature
Additionally supported by e-learning and workshops when required.
The Masters Degree is made up as follows:
Core Module - Action Inquiry and Reflective Practices.
Choice Module - Named Award Module OR Optional Module OR Postgraduate Certificate Level Module.
Core Module - Educational and Social Research
Choice Module - Named Award Module OR Optional Module.
Core Module - Dissertation OR Research and Development Project
Methods of Delivery:
This flexible programme has been developed to enable the participant to undertake 'mixed module' delivery on a part-time basis. The modules may be offered by face to face delivery, distance learning and work-based learning on a two intake basis per year.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
Take testFor general admission to the programme you should normally have obtained an honours degree or other qualification recognised by us as equivalent. In addition to meeting the required entrance qualification criteria, your admission to the programme is subject to you providing evidence that you have a minimum period of two years experience working in an appropriate practice setting. Depending on the pathway chosen there can be further specific entry requirements to meet.
