The Programme aims to enable participants to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes to become an innovative, reflective and enquiring university teacher, and to develop effective relationships with colleagues and students based on mutual trust and respect.
The programme is at postgraduate level 11 on the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework and its successful graduates gain 60 points at Master's level
There are three modules within the programme - two core modules, plus a further module from a range of options, which allows participants to tailor the programme to their own practice.
The core modules are Learning, Teaching and Assessing in Higher Education, and Professional Development. The programme comprises self-study with optional workshops, interaction with the University virtual learning environment, Blackboard, and support from an Academic Supporter and Buddy.
Methods of Assessment:
The Programme utilises and models a range of innovative assessment methods, including a reflective critique on a video recording of teaching practice and an action research project.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
Take testThe Certificate is designed for staff who are currently teaching or supporting learning in higher education, who may be new to teaching or who want to develop their existing teaching skills further.
Participants must demonstrate that they are capable of working at postgraduate level. Participants are also required to be actively involved in teaching, assessing and supporting learning within higher education.

Professional Accreditation: Successful graduates of the PgCertTHE are eligible to become Fellows of the Higher Education Academy (HEA). Successful completion of the first module of the programme leads to eligibility for Associate status with the HEA.
