The Masters Nursing focuses on developing knowledge and skills related to leadership, self direction, negotiation, critical thinking and writing to publication standard (skills which are essential for many nursing leadership career pathways).
This degree is taught by distance learning to international students, providing a structured, tutor-supported learning experience. The programme aims to develop professional practice and enhance the quality of patient/client care by underpinning contemporary professional practice with theory and developing critical thinking, problem solving and leadership skills.
The programme consists of two core modules and three specialist themes module options. The two core modules are each rated at Level M, 30 SCOTCAT points. The core modules are followed by a further three modules, each rated at 20 SCOTCAT points. The core module topics cover development of professional practice through the scholarship of nursing, evidence-based practice and research, via the completion of a research proposal.
Module topics are focused in current challenges, situations and problems in your local context. The curriculum design is flexible and unique in that your module topics are negotiated via a learning contract with your module tutor. This creates an extensive range of possible topic areas.
The final part of the programme is a dissertation worth 600 credits for those who wish to complete the Masters qualification.
