* MRes: 12 months full-time
* PgDip: 8 months approx
* PgCert: 3 months approx
Teaching of the two core courses is based around formal lectures, seminars and tutorials. You will also carry out two 18-week-long laboratory-based research projects, working with top parasitology researchers, with a wide range of projects (that you can choose) in molecular parasitology.
Core courses
* Introductory molecular biology for parasitologists
* Advanced research techniques for parasitologists.
Research projects
You will conduct two major research projects in which you will put into practice the molecular skills you have acquired in the taught sections of the programme. You will choose your research projects to reflect your interests and the skills you wish to acquire. You will then work full time in the laboratory on your chosen project, giving you sufficient time to enable real scientific progress to be made. You will receive close, individual supervision and instruction from your project supervisor. After each project you will write a scientific report and give a presentation to the class on your findings.
In parallel there will be a series of research seminars, introducing you to the parasitology research being undertaken in Glasgow.
