Wind power is a very successful technology with steadily increasing importance. Wind energy installed throughout the world generates the equivalent electricity need of 47 million Europeans. And this is just the beginning. In 2020 wind power can deliver 12% of global electricity demand, create 2.3 million jobs and make a substantial contribution to reduction of the CO2-emmisions.
With a wind energy programme from DTU, you get an education based on the world-leading competences in the heart of the global wind power development. The education is based on absolutely front-knowledge and technology, combining the scientific research and knowledge of DTU and Risø with teaching and guidance from a large number of associated experts and researchers from the industry. As a world-leading university within wind energy technology, DTU has been engaged in wind energy research and education since the 1970’ies and has offered a dedicated MSc education in wind power since 2001.
General Competence Courses
Course 41314 Wind Turbine Technology and Aerodynamics is mandatory in the beginning of the program. The course gives a broad understanding of wind energy technology and is essential for a deeper understanding of wind turbines needed in succeeding courses.
Elective Courses
The elective courses can be chosen among all advanced level courses at DTU as well as courses from other universities which can be transferred to the programme. You can find an overview of the courses recommended by the program coordinators on the program's website.
Studying abroad
DTU recommends that students study one semester at a foreign university if they have not been on an international exchange before. Please contact International Affairs for further information. The faculty staff may also be able to assist. The head of studies may approve selected courses taken as part of an approved International Exchange Program as substitutes for required DTU courses.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
